APA — ADVANCE PROVISIONING ALLOWANCE (EXTRA)
The APA covers all on-board expenses not included in the base rate: food and beverages, additional fuel for longer passages, port fees above the base allowance and any extra services requested. The APA is typically 30 to 40% of the base charter rate, held in trust by the captain and reconciled at the end of the charter.
A day charter typically includes a fully crewed vessel, fuel, skipper and deck crew, on-board equipment such as snorkelling gear and paddleboards, and use of the galley. Catering, beverages and water toys upgrades are arranged separately by Ocean Five at your request.

For peak season (July and August) and congress periods, book 3 to 6 months ahead. For shoulder season or last-minute requests, Ocean Five can often source available vessels within 1 to 2 weeks.
A crewed charter includes a professional skipper, hostess and sometimes a chef. A bareboat charter is rented without crew and requires a valid sailing licence. Ocean Five specialises exclusively in crewed charters.
Safety is always the priority. If conditions make sailing uncomfortable or unsafe, the skipper will advise. Ocean Five works with you to find the best solution. Most charter contracts include a weather clause for rebooking.
